Update on the tariff approval and licensing of transitional renewable energy projects in Vietnam

As of 7 June 2023, 66 out of 85 transitional renewable energy projects totaling 3,691.861 MW have submitted applications to the EPTC for electricity tariff negotiation. Additionally, 9 projects totaling 472.62MW have achieved COD with approval for connection to the national grid. Source



Hue City pilots electric trucks for waste collection

Hue City in Vietnam is piloting the use of six electric trucks for waste collection. The "Catalysing a Sustainable Shift Towards E-Mobility in Viet Nam" project is sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam. The project aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by enhancing the ecosystem for e-mobility and green transport at the national level. Source


Adani Group explores USD10bn investment in Vietnam's infrastructure and renewable energy

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zones, part of Adani Group, has announced plans to invest up to USD 10 billion into Vietnam. The investment focus will include ports, logistics, transportation as well as energy and digital technology. Adani Group aims to establish an eco-friendly port ecosystem and invest in wind and solar power plants in Vietnam, with an estimated investment of USD 3 billion, aligning with Vietnam's development strategy. Australian Government and ADB support e-mobility and battery technology in Vietnam

VinES Energy Solutions JSC (VinES) will receive USD 500,000 in Technical Assistance from the Australian Government through the Australian Climate Finance Partnership (ACFP), administered by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). This support aims to advance lithium-ion battery technology and sustainable production for electric vehicle batteries in Vietnam, whilst creating employment opportunities along the supply chain. Previous investments in VinFast by the Australian Government (USD 50 million) and the ADB (USD 950,000 in Technical Assistance) were also focused on promoting e-mobility in Vietnam. Source



SP Group to install rooftop solar panels at 9 breweries of Sabeco

On 15 May 2023, the Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (Sabeco) and SP Group executed an MOU formalizing a partnership to commence the second phase of installation of a rooftop solar energy system with a maximum output of 10.44 MWp at 9 Sabeco breweries located in cities/provinces comprising Cu Chi (expansion), Lam Dong, Ha Tinh, Hanoi, Tay Do, Vinh Long, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Bac Lieu, and Quang Ngai. Installation is scheduled to be completed and the system is expected to go into full operation by the end of the third quarter of this year and will bring the total number of breweries adopting solar energy in Sabeco’s system to 17 by the end of this year.
