The political declaration establishing Vietnam’s Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) commits US$15.5bn to accelerate energy transition in Vietnam.
To enable the JETP a plan for implementing COP26 obligations has been published by Vietnam's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) under Decision 739/QD-BTNMT dated 27 March 2023.
This plan outlines several tasks assigned to departments under MONRE for the 2023-2030 period, including revising legal documents, updating development strategies and plans, building regulations and guidelines for implementing the carbon credit exchange mechanism, and updating the list of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission coefficients. The plan also includes developing a Scheme to implement the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) Political Declaration which is scheduled for release on June 2023.
