Vietnam’s PDP8 Implementation Plan approved

The implementation plan for Vietnam’s National Power Development Plan for the period of 2021-2030, vision to 2050 (PDP8 Implementation Plan) has been approved under Decision 262/QD-TTg dated 1 April 2024. Source

 

Transition pathways for Vietnam’s coal-fired power plants launched

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Vietnam’s Institute of Energy have assessed options and pathways for the transition of coal-fired power plants. The joint assessment reviews potential costs, and benefits of transitioning, as well as strategies for decommissioning, repurposing, and refurbishing coal-fired power plants in Vietnam. Source. Nam Dinh 1 coal fired power plant proposes fuel conversion to LNG

A proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) for the conversion of the BOT Nam Dinh 1 coal fired power plant from the use of coal to LNG. Source

 

SK Group proposes development of an agriculture-fisheries hub around Phu Yen LNG power project

SK Group has proposed development of an agriculture-fisheries hub in conjunction with development of an LNG power plant in Phu Yen province, Vietnam. The group has also proposed deploying new technologies to produce hydrogen and to store carbon dioxide in Vietnam. Source

 

Draft Revised Electricity Law open to public consultation

A public consultation process in respect of the Draft Revised Electricity Law has been launched by the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV)’s office. Source
